For my animated montage I decided to photograph some orchids, I think they are very beautiful and they would create a nice composition with their bright colours.
I began by photographing pink and white orchids in my house. I wanted the lighting to be very light and natural, to help emphasis the lovely colours of the flowers therefore I took these photos in the morning on a sunny day.
I had some trouble starting my photomontage, I was unsure how to get the photos to fit together. From the advice of our student teacher, I decided to first create my work on photoshop and play with the sizes and different ways I could compose my photomontage.
Once I was happy with my image on photoshop I transferred it into powerpoint. It was a bit difficult to copy the exact composition I had on photoshop and therefore I did make some changes.
Once I unified all my images on powerpoint I began to add in animations and sound. I was unsure what to use for the sound however I chose something instrumental, because I thought it best fit the subject matter of my art work. It was also very confusing for me adding in the sound and having it correspond to the animations. I solved this problem by asking another classmate to show me how they did theirs.
From this assignment, I learned a lot about using powerpoint that I did not know how to do before. Also, in the past I've done photography in comm tech, however I have never been very good. For this project I think I executed the photography portion of the project well and I surprised my self with how well the final work turned out.
